Reliable Pet Diagnostics and Travel Services

Domestic and International Pet Travel Certificates

At Forestville Veterinary and Bird Hospital, the veterinarians are USDA-accredited and are qualified to issue domestic and international pet health certificates.
For international pet health certificates, please do a research on the following before you come for your appointment.
  • Airline carrier requirements for health documentation, pet crate specification, and eligibility
  • Pet transport information of your destination country
  • Animal and plant health inspection service
To avoid quarantine of your pet in the destination country and related expenses, please contact us to schedule a pet travel exam and answer any questions you may have regarding your pet's health or safety while traveling.
For domestic travels, we urge you to contact your carrier for complete regulations prior to booking such as ambient temperature restrictions for pets transported in cargo, size limitations for accompanying you in the cabin and security screening and check-in procedures.

Please call the Maryland Department of Agriculture at 800-492-5590 and ask for Animal Health for further assistance with internal health certificates.

In-house Diagnostic Equipment

Forestville Veterinary and Bird Hospital is equipped with an in-house laboratory that allows us to quickly perform diagnostic tests on your pet while you wait. This lets us provide you with a more accurate and rapid diagnosis. If your pet needs a test we can't perform, our outside lab provides additional tests. The results of which are obtained daily.

Lab testing of specimens from avians, reptiles, and pocket pets is performed in both our in-house and outside laboratories.

Digital Radiography for Your Pet

We offer routine radiology services to help our veterinarian accurately diagnose a problem or disease in your pet. X-rays can help us find bone tumors, gastric obstructions, heart enlargement, and bladder or kidney stones. We may sedate your pet prior to taking radiographs, whether as part of treating your pet when it's unwell or as part of a general wellness program.

Ultrasound Testing

Our hospital also features ultrasound services. Ultrasounds allow us to visualize your pet's tissue density of its internal organs with a level of detail not possible with radiography. With abdominal ultrasound, we can see your pet's kidneys, bladder, lymph nodes, gall bladder, uterus, and even any tumors. Using ultrasound, we can see beating fetal hearts inside of your pet as early as 21 days into its pregnancy.
